RACQUET STRINGING

The more you play, the greater the change in the tension of your racquet strings. Whether you’re looking for tennis racquet stringing or service on a different style of racquet, the Racquet PROS at DICK’S Sporting Goods are certified to perform custom stringing on your new purchase or restring your trusted racquet to get it back in shape.

Restringing ensures your game remains in peak form. You may feel that your racquet is losing its “punch” at the net. As tension in your strings declines, your strings stretch more at impact, cushioning the ball’s landing and minimizing your racquet’s “squashing effect.” This leads to a loss of control and inconsistent play. Maintain your style of play by restringing as many times per year as you play each week.

Frequent Stringer loyalty program: Have your racquet strung at Dick's Sporting Goods four times and receive your fifth for free. Frequent loyalty program is redeemable in-store only. See associate for detail

GRIP REPLACEMENT

Having the right hold on your racquet is critical in placing the ball on the court with the spin and speed you want. A grip that’s too small increases your chances of developing discomfort because players generally squeeze more tightly on an undersized grip. Struggling with a grip can make shots difficult to control and reduce your chance of making solid contact for a powerful hit. Our Racquet PROS can help determine the right size for you, whether you’re picking a new racquet or selecting an overgrip.

Over time, your racquet’s grip will begin to show signs of use, either by wearing down in areas your hand contacts or by unraveling. Keep your grip and your game in top shape with our grip installation service.

TENSION

We will find the perfect fit for your game.

Unless you have a preference, our Racquet PROS will use the default tension for your particular racquet make and model, generally increasing or decreasing by two to three pounds per stringing until we find the perfect fit for you.

Lower tension means increased power, durability and feel/sensitivity
Higher tension allows for more control

GAUGE

The higher the gauge number, the thinner the string.

The thinner string allows for more spin and elasticity and increased feel/sensitivity
Thicker string provides increased durability
